New York-<\/strong> I’m happy to share that my work in Mali for the CTC Sentinel<\/a> was cited by the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs <\/a>in Oslo. The paper entitled Mali: A Political Economy Analysis<\/a> examines the historical roots of this vast west African nation-state’s cyclical bouts of instability. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mali has been in near constant crisis since early 2012 which sadly shows virtually no signs of letting up. The country is now ruled by an anti-democratic junta that is allied with its fellow military rulers in Niger and Burkina Faso to form the \u00a0Alliance of Sahel States<\/a>. The name sounds innocuous enough as if to ordain some kind of legitimacy on these regimes despite all three having forcefully overthrown civilian governments.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
