New York- My work in Mali had a couple of notable citations I was hitherto unaware of that I wanted to briefly mention here. Firstly I was cited in the paper From Disfunctionality to Disaggregation and Back?
The Malian Crisis, Local Players and European Interests by my former Jamestown Foundation colleagues Dario Cristiani and Riccardo Fabiani. It was published in Rome by the venerable Istituto Affari Internazionali, an Italian think tank with a pro-EU, global outlook.

Secondly and far more recently my high-risk field research was cited in Desert Drift, Declining Deadliness: Understanding the Evolution of AQIM’s Suicide Bombings authored by Jason Warner,
Ellen Chapin, and Caleb Weiss. This paper was published by the United States Military Academy at West Point here in New York.
